Why Your Golf Warm-Up Isn’t Working — and How to Fix It

Why Your Golf Warm-Up Isn’t Working — and How to Fix It

The 15-minute routine that makes your first drive feel like your fourth

We’ve all been there...

A couple of quick practice swings in the car park. A rushed walk to the first tee.
Then — crack — that first drive with just a little too much tension.
One awkward angle and your back’s already sending out warning signals.

You tell yourself you just need to warm into it. But by the time you actually feel good?
You’re halfway through the round and already nursing a pull in your lower back.

The Problem Isn’t You — It’s Your Warm-Up

The old-school stretch and swing method doesn’t cut it anymore.

Golf is a sport of power, finesse, and timing — all built on how well your body moves.
That means your hips, glutes, thoracic spine, and core need to be active before you even take your first shot.

A few toe touches and shoulder rolls won’t get you there.

Why I Care

When I was competing internationally in kayaking, I trained with Olympic champions and world record holders. Every single session started with a carefully designed warm-up — because if your body’s not switched on, it doesn’t matter how skilled you are.

When I transitioned to golf recreationally, I learned quickly that the same principles applied.
The right warm-up doesn’t just protect you — it elevates your performance.

What Makes a Good Golf Warm-Up?

It should:

  • Wake up the rotational chain (hips, spine, shoulders)

  • Activate your core and glutes without fatigue

  • Loosen tension without draining power

  • Be fast, simple, and consistent

The MAHŌ Golf Mobility Protocol

That’s why we built a quick, no-fluff, 15-minute protocol specifically for golfers.
It’s built on the same warm-up principles I used during elite sport — just simplified and adapted for anyone who wants to play better and feel better.

You Don’t Need to Feel Broken to Start Feeling Better

We made this protocol for people who want more than just “getting through 18 holes.”
This is for those who want to move freely, hit cleanly, and walk off the course without that familiar tightness.

Because feeling good isn’t reserved for the pros — and neither is smart preparation.

Better movement is earned, not guessed.
Start before the first swing.
